The Mayonnaise Jar
When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
Bila hal dalam hidupmu terlalu banyak untuk kamu tangani
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Bila waktu 24 jam tidaklah cukup
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
Ingatlah toples mayonise dan 2 gelas kopi
A professor stood before his philosophy class
Seorang Profesor berdiri sebelum kelas filosofinya
and had some items in front of him.
Dan dengan beberapa benda di depannya,
When the class began, wordlessly,
Ketika kelas akan di mulai, tanpa suara
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
Di mengambil toples kosong mayonise yang sangat besar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
Dan mengisinya dengan bola golf
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
Lalu dia bertanya kepada muridnya, apakah toples itu sudah penuh
They agreed that it was.
Dan mereka sepakat bahwa toples itu penuh
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
Lalu professor tersebut mengambil kelereng dan menuangkannya
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
Kedalam toples tersebut, dan mengguncangkan dengan pelan
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
Kelereng tersebut menggelinding mengisi ruang kosong diantara bola golf
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
Lalu dia bertanya kembali kepada muridnya, apakah toples tersebut telah penuh?
Dan mereka sepakat bahwa toples itu penuh
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Selanjutnya, professor tersebut mengambil satu kotak pasir dan menuangkannya kedalam toples
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
Tentu saja, pasir tersebut mengisi ruang yang kosong
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
Dia bertanya sekali lagi apakah toples tersebut sudah penuh, para murid merespon dengan suara bulat “ya”
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
Lalu professor tersebut mengambil dua gelas kopi dari bawah meja, dan menuangkan seluruhnya kedalam toples
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
Mengisi tempat yang kosong diantara pasir, para murid pun tertawa
‘Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
“Sekarang” kata professor tersebut setelah mereka berhenti tertawa
‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
Saya ingin kamu menganggap toples ini sebagai hidup kamu.
The golf balls are the important things – family, children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions, Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
Bola Golf melambangkan hal-hal yang penting, Keluarga, Anak, kesehatan, teman dan hasrat favoritmu, hal yang bila semua nya hilang dan hanya ini yang masih tertinggal, hidup kamu akan tetap penuh/lengkap
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
Kelereng melambangkan hal lainnya yang berarti, seperti pekerjaan, rumah dan mobil
The sand is everything else –The small stuff.
Pasir melambangkan hal lainnya – hal yang kecil
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued,
Bila kamu menempatkan pasir dahulu kedalam toples “ dia melanjutkan
there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
Tidak akan ada ruang untuk kelereng ataupun bola golf
The same goes for life.
Ini berlaku juga di dalam hidup
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
Bila kamu menghabiskan waktu dan energi untuk hal kecil
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
kamu tidak akan mempunyai ruang untuk hal-hal yang penting
So…
Jadi
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Berilah perhatian terhadap hal yang penting untuk kebahagiaan mu
Play With your children.
Bermain dengan anakmu
Take time to get medical checkups.
Luangkan waktu untuk pemeriksaan kesehatan
Take your partner out to dinner
Bawa pasangan mu makan malam diluar.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
Pasti masih akan ada waktu untuk membersihkan rumah dan memperbaiki tempat pembuangan.
‘Take care of the golf balls first –
Uruslah bola golf terlebih dahulu
The things that really matter.
Hal hal yang benar berarti
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.
Tentukan prioritasmu, yang lain hanyalah pasir
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
Salah satu murid mengangkat tangannya, dan menanyakan , kopi melambangkan apa?
The professor smiled.
‘I’m glad you asked’.
Profesor itu tersenyum
“Saya lega kamu bertanya”
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
Itu hanya menunjukan, sepenuh apapun kelihatannya hidupmu
there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’
Selalu ada tempat untukmenikmati dua gelas kopi dengan teman
