Kalau ditanya serial tv favorit saya dari sejak 2 tahun lalu (atau lupa tepatnya kapan) pasti saya jawab How I Met Your Mother. Saya ga pernah bosen ngulang episode-episodenya. Kalau lagi diputer di starworld, season berapapun dan episode berapapun, pasti saya tonton.
Seperti layaknya serial barat lainnya, memang beberapa adegan is not suitable for young children (wait, i am an adult right? Jadi sah-sah aja sih, ngehehe). Hanya memang budaya baratnya yang ga cocok banget untuk budaya kita, teteplah disaring.
Tapi bukan itu yang jadi intinya. Si tokoh utama bernama Ted Mosby ini kan diceritain nyari-nyari pasangan hidupnya. Selama 8 tahun (8 seasons) eh belum nemu aja tuh jodoh, makin aja kita penasaran.
Sampai di suatu titik, si Ted ini merasa desperado dengan penantiannya dan harapannya.. Ditambah dengan peer presure juga.
In one of his friend’s wedding, he said to Robin: “All my friends from high school, they’re here with their wives, their kids. Me? My date for the night is a sticky magazine.
“I used to believe in destiny, you know.. blablablabla…” Ceritanya Ted percaya bahwa suatu saat pasti dia menemukan calon ibu dari anak-anaknya di suatu tempat dan bisa kapan saja. Tapi saat ini, kayanya semuanya mustahil terjadi
Robin said: “You’ve just been focused on work”
Desperately Ted said: “No, it’s more than that. I’ve stopped believing… It’s just every day, I think I believe a little less, and a little less, and a little less. And that.. sucks.”
Robin gave a clever answer: “You’re Ted Mosby. You start believing again.”
Ted: “In what, destiny?”
Robin: “Chemistry. If u have a chemistry, you only need one other thing… Timing“ … “But timing is a bitch”
Yap.. Sometimes we need a perfect timing to get the best thing. But the waiting is a tough.
Salutnya buat Ted ini, he really did what Robin said. He always starts believing again whenever he fails. Akhirnya setelah 9 tahun (9 seasons), nemu juga jodohnya (gosipnya sih HIMYM tamat di season ke-9). Walaupun pada saat itu dia yang terakhir ketemu jodohnya dibanding sahabat-sahabatnya yang lain. Marshall ama Lily mah dah dari season 1, tapi Barney? yang notabene lebih ancur daripada dia, malah nikah duluan ama Robin. It must be breaking his heart so much.
I bet all of us may undergo like Ted’s through right? Whatever the problems are. (Not only about love life ya)
Yes, sometimes I feel like I stop believing.. I think I believe a little less, and a little less, and a little less.
